Common name:Powis Castle Artemisia
Botanical name:Artemisia 'Powis Castle'

This mounding shrub reaches 3 ft. high and up to 5ft. wide with fine silver foliage. It does well in coastal areas as well as inland warm areas. It rarely blooms but is used for its beautiful foliage. It is striking next to perennials with bright colors. This shrub prefers full sun and well draining soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established.

Texas Honey Mesquite

Botanical name:Prosopis glandulosa

Deciduous tree grows to 30' x 30'. Blooms in spring with pale yellow flower long, narrow beans in summer. Foliage is larger and brighter green than other mesquites. Native to Texas and Mexico.

This clumping palm relative will reach 15' tall and has broad medium green, sword-like leaves. White flowers appear in the spring and summer. It blends well with either tropical or desert theme landscapes.

Rarely seen in cultivation. An arborescent species forming stemless rosettes with hundreds of leaves.. Flat leaves have sharp margins. Texas native.

Soils and Compost:

Physical weed control, including mulching, or hand removal protects the watershed from harmful chemicals.

Water Saving Tip:

As the weather gets hotter avoid the temptation to increase run times.

Instead, schedule more start times with one to two hours in between to allow the water from the previous session to soak in before watering again.

Integrated Pest Management:

Remove irrigation water and fertilizer from areas where you don't want weeds to grow.
