Common name:Giant Dropseed
Botanical name:Sporobolus wrightii
A great accent grass that grows to 4' x 4'. Gray green leaves fade to yellow in the fall then to beige in winter. Showy feather seed heads appear in the summer and reach 7' tall. Very tough and deep rooted. Good for alkaline conditions. Cut back in late winter for fresh regrowth.

Practice grass-cycling by leaving short grass clippings on lawns after mowing, so that nutrients and organic matter are returned to the soil.
Different areas of your landscape have different water requirements.
Shrubs need much less water than lawns and drip systems should never be scheduled on the same program with lawns.
Establish separate watering schedules for those areas.
Drip and other smart irrigation delivers water directly to roots, allowing no excess water for weeds.
