Common name:Cardon Grande
Botanical name:Trichocereus terscheckii
This columnar cactus is used in place of the Saguaro since it grows faster. It has 8-14 ribs, with spines 3" long. White flowers bloom at night and can be 8" wide from late spring through late summer. Irrigate this cactus every 2-3 weeks after it's established, especially during the summer. Cardon Grande can reach 1'-15' tall and 1'-5' wide.

As the weather gets hotter avoid the temptation to increase run times.
Instead, schedule more start times with one to two hours in between to allow the water from the previous session to soak in before watering again.
Attract, or buy beneficial insects such as ladybugs and lacewings to control pest outbreaks in your garden.
